IIT Madras Placements are managed by the Placements and Internship Office. The campus placement process is structured and begins months before the actual placement drive begins. To begin the IIT Madras Placements process, students need to register in December, following the steps below:

• Register on the IITM placement portal.
• Upload resume
• Give consent to sit for companies. 
• Students fulfilling the CPI, Branch, and job profile eligibility criteria for the respective companies can only appear for those company interviews. 
• Companies are given different slots based on salary packages, profile, brand, and location. Day 1 of IIT Madras Placements is reserved for top recruiters and product-based companies. 
• Students need to appear for written tests, coding assessments, and group discussions.
• Multiple rounds of Technical interviews and HR interviews over a few days. 

  IIT Madras Pre-Placement Training

IIT Madras placements cell provides a year-long pre-placement training through a structured journey. Second-year students can start with pre-placement training, which includes aptitude training, resume workshops, mock interviews, and communication skill-building sessions. Students get trained for all the technical interviews, HR rounds, and group discussions. Internships are also offered to students to provide them with in-depth industry exposure and Pre-placement offers. A national internship, placement training, and assessment program has been recently launched as a part of national-level initiatives as well.

The Summer Fellowship Programme (SFP) is a two-month research-intensive internship program hosted by IIT Madras. It is open to non-IIT graduates and PG candidates as well.
